Description
The Photo Stylist Assistant works with photo stylists, photographers, photo directors and others to create innovative, high quality, on brand, and beautiful images for client advertising across multiple media platforms. The Photo Stylist Assistant is a cross-functional collaborator who delivers across multiple photography and video projects, while driving efficiency and maintaining quality.
About you: You have a creative eye and a strong interest in commercial photography styling. Whether working with fashion, products, or props, you bring a keen attention to detail and a passion for making every element look its best. You thrive in fast-paced environments and are adaptable, able to handle various challenges with ease. Your excellent communication skills make you a natural collaborator, and you’re excited to contribute to a team-driven creative process.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist the stylists with styling products, clothing, accessories and props for photo shoots
- Help organize and maintain the studio ensuring everything needed for a shoot is on hand (i.e., merchandise, props, prep supplies etc.)
- Prep apparel and other merchandise for photography including steaming, stuffing, pinning, pre styling
- Maintain inventory of styling and prep supplies
- Responsible for the timely completion of prepping and accuracy of merchandise per shot
- Use studio software to dictate order of priority and ensure accuracy
- Assist Merch Coordinator with tasks including but not limited to organizing, unpacking, getting merchandise to set for photography, repacking
- Pre style and assist onset or behind the scenes during photography
- Source and/or create photography props, sets, backgrounds and surfaces
- Assist with post shoot tasks such as packing up merchandise, equipment and cleanup of studio spaces
- Must be able take direction and communicate with stylists, art directors and clients
- Act as a positive team player who does not hesitate to jump in when additional support is needed
- Maintain an organized and clean prep area and on-set zone
- Assist with other tasks or duties as assigned
Requirements
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Interest in fashion, styling, photography or design
- Ability to multi-task and problem-solve under tight deadlines
- Good communication skills and the ability to take direction well
- Previous experience in a photo studio and/or fashion/photo styling a plus, but not required
- Portfolio demonstrating your work and expertise, if available
- Flexibility and willingness to work longer hours as needed during peak season
- Friendly, enthusiastic, and eager to learn and contribute
- Ability to accept constructive criticism and adapt or modify as needed
- Desire to collaborate with creative teams and clients fostering positive working relationships and contributing to collective success
- Proactive and self-motivated individual with a passion for creative
Physical Requirements
- Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Periods of standing, bending and walking through photo sets
- Must be able to lift up to 20-40 pounds at times
- Must be able to access and navigate each department in the facility
Work Environment
This position requires work in an office and studio environment. The work environment has a low noise level with ambient temperatures controlled by heating and air conditioning.
