Band 2

Hours: 37.5 per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

The Ophthalmology service is a very busy outpatient based department specializing in the care of patients with eye related problems including surgical intervention. We are seeking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic individual to the role of Housekeeper.

This role is integral to developing environmental standards for the care of patients. You will be pivotal in supporting the senior sister in the management of the environment and focus on reaching standards that are important aspects of care, such as, stock ordering, cleanliness, catering services and maintenance of a safe, comfortable environment. You would be working alongside other staff to maintain the high standards within the service.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are needed for liaising with staff, patients and relatives.

The post holder will work as part of the Nursing Team and take on the non- clinical tasks the team is responsible for. These tasks will be specified by the manager.

  • To give excellent customer service
  • Explain/ demonstrates own role and duties to new members of staff.
  • Completes environmental audits
  • Escalates any concerns to Senior Nurse
  • Respects confidentiality at all times
  • To receive and pass on information to others taking into account confidentiality and data protection policies.
  • To be aware of new policies or changes to standards i.e.: food hygiene or waste categories.
  • Answer the telephone as required.
