Job Description

  • Repair or replace faulty wiring, equipment, or fixtures.
  • Ensure repairs comply with safety codes and regulations.
  • Plan and lay out new electrical installations.
  • Recommend upgrades to improve energy efficiency or system performance
  • Support the installation and commissioning of new equipment and technology.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to increase energy efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Respond promptly to electrical issues that could impact production, minimising delays.
  • Use electrical testing devices to identify issues with circuits, wiring, or machinery.
  • Ensure all work complies with UK regulations, including the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and BS 7671 Wiring Regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and risk assessments of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Maintain detailed records of all work, including repairs, maintenance, and inspections.

Candidate Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including motors, PLCs, and control systems.
  • Strong knowledge with cold storage and refrigeration systems.
  • Proficiency in electrical testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, megohmmeters).
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Good communication skills and a proactive approach to teamwork.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent qualification.
  • Valid Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) certification.
  • Inspection and Testing (2391 or 2394/2395) qualification.
  • Knowledge of UK health and safety regulations, including COSHH and risk assessments.
