Resourcery, a professional service provider based in Cape Town, offers a wide range of services to clients worldwide, including finance, marketing, analytics, and more. Our client, an investment company with diverse interests in Hospitality and Food & Beverage, is seeking a skilled and experienced Bookkeeper to join their team.
As a Bookkeeper, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations of our organisation and its subsidiaries. Your responsibilities will include maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, processing payroll, and ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, your duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
- Financial Record Maintenance: Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process,
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Manage and reconcile accounts payable and receivable,
- Bank Reconciliation: Perform regular bank reconciliation to ensure accuracy of financial records,
- Payroll Processing: Process payroll, including calculating wages, withholding taxes, and managing direct deposits,
- Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements, reports, and summaries as required,
- Expense Tracking: Monitor and track company expenses, and prepare expense reports,
- Data Entry: Enter financial data into accounting software and maintain organised financial records,
- Audit Preparation: Assist with the preparation for audits and coordinate with auditors as needed,
- Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the finance department and other departments as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills
As an ideal candidate, you must have the following:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting,
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks, Xero) and MS Office Suite (especially Excel),
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial record-keeping,
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks,
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
- Strong ethical standards and integrity in financial management,
- Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records,
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment,
- Proficiency in English.
