Job Description

This position will be employed through Headway consulting firm working remotely throughout the US.

The Learning and Development (L&D) Contractor will be responsible for coordinating the successful development, piloting, and launch of a new AI-driven Skills software solution within our internal LMS. This includes spearheading communications with the LMS provider, ensuring timely updates to the Sr. Dir. of Learning & Development, and managing a smooth implementation process, including testing with pilot groups. Additionally, this role will provide key instructional design support, building, developing, and deploying custom courses using multiple authoring tools. The L&D Contractor collaborates closely with the Learning & Development Director and team to support and coordinate training efforts to create and implement new training across the entire organization.

The contractor will also serve as a vital resource to the Learning & Development team, stepping in to ensure continuity during a team member’s family leave. This position requires strong project management, communication, and instructional design skills to meet the diverse needs of the role effectively.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

Project Management

  • Own communication with our external LMS provider to learn about all steps of software implementation.
  • Develop a timeline for Skills launch, including testing with pilot groups.
  • Work with both L&D and LMS provider to deploy every step of software implementation with enthusiasm and innovation.
  • Manage online learning communities within our LMS and in Slack and respond to questions and feedback from learners.
  • Communicate with Dir. of L&D and team consistently and effectively with updates and any flags, when necessary draft communications to groups within the organization regarding launch of Skills software and updates.

Instructional Design

  • Revise and prepare current training resources to transfer from Achieve to our new corporate LMS.
  • Create interactive online learning courses with a variety of Learning Management Systems and content creation tools.
  • Build and maintain a full suite of training and resource documentation with enthusiasm and innovation.
  • Manage online learning communities within our LMS and respond to questions and feedback from learners.
  • Stay informed on best practices in instructional design with a focus on inclusive design and accessibility.

LMS Administration

  • Perform LMS administrative functions, including the creation of learning paths, management of user enrollments, program pages and integrations.
  • Create and maintain instruction manuals for staff for developing/formatting LMS pages, new products, and other commonly used features.
  • Conduct regular reviews/audits and maintenance/clean-up for LMS pages, products, user accounts (e.g. check for broken links, update outdated language)
  • Support L&D team members and all ML employees with LMS questions. Independently work with the appropriate parties to develop solutions.
  • Develop and implement new strategies to ensure user engagement goals are met (in coordination with L&D managers)
  • Stay up to date with new LMS features and present updates on new features during L&D team calls.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Monitor L&D team inbox and Slack to help in responding to questions and inquiries with a focus on questions regarding LMS and custom training needs.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain detailed time tracking with allocation of time toward specific projects to ensure accurate L&D budget forecast.
  • Participate in weekly L&D team meetings and 1:1 meetings with manager.

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • 3 years’ professional Experience
  • Training or education experience with success teaching others to use digital products and software
  • Experienced and skilled in learning new systems and software quickly

Preferred Skills / Knowledge

  • 1 year’s professional experience in instructional design, LMS administrator experience, Project Management
  • Professional experience in Education industry

Education Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required

Pay Rate: $25/hour

Hours: 20-30 hours per week

Assignment Date: January 15, 2025 – July 2025 ( with possibility of extension)

Location: Remote

The position is eligible for remote employment, excluding the following locations: Alaska, Arkansas, Hawaii, Mississippi, Nevada, South Dakota, West Virginia, Wyoming.
