About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager – Investments to join the AFL team and support its efforts to drive future growth and diversification. This role will be responsible for identifying, evaluating and executing business acquisitions and divestments, new ventures, investments and other related strategic initiatives for the AFL. Reporting to the Executive General Manager – Strategy, Technology and Data Analytics, the Senior Manager – Investments will bring a strategic approach to AFL corporate development activities – from idea generation through to valuation, due diligence, negotiation / transaction structuring, approvals and deal closing. The role will be involved in strategic initiatives across a range of industry sectors including – property development, consumer/retail and technology.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF
Key Accountabilities
- Manage corporate development activity from idea generation, due diligence, valuation, deal structuring, negotiation and closing activities where appropriate
- Develop and maintain an active opportunity pipeline (acquisitions/divestments, new ventures, investments, partnerships/alliances and joint ventures)
- Evaluate relevant markets and companies for initiatives that support the AFL strategy
- Drive the development of valuations, financial analyses, proposals and presentations for strategic and corporate development initiatives for the AFL Executive and AFL Commission
- Work with shareholders, board directors, CEOs/CFOs and management teams of key AFL equity holdings
- Partner with Finance, Strategy and Legal teams to create deliverables for AFL Investment Committee and Commission meetings
- Manage and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, internally and externally
OUR IDEAL TEAM MEMBER
Core Competencies
- 8-10 years’ experience – in investment banking, corporate development, private equity and/or corporate advisory roles
- Exceptional relationship and communication skills and ability to influence senior executives
- End-to-end transaction management and financial modelling experience
- No sports experience necessary, but takes a strong interest in learning the sports industry
- Experience in property development, consumer and technology or proven to be able to work across a wide range of sectors
- Excellent negotiation and presentation skills
