Job Responsibilities
The Director of Advancement Operations leads the overall management of the advancement office with administrative support, including accounting, budgeting, and project management, as well as collaboration and communication efforts with the SCC Foundation staff and Board of Directors. The DAO also leads the SCC Foundation student scholarship program, which includes procedure development, award determination, and fiscal accountability.
- Accurately accounts, processes, and reconciles gifts, donations, endowments, and other funds received by the SCC Foundation. Develops and distributes ongoing financial reports to appropriate parties with transparency and consistency. Provides accurate accountability of the Foundation’s expenditures, endowments, and property to ensure fiscal responsibility on behalf of the Foundation board. Coordinates research on prospects, including individuals, corporations, and foundations, to aid the Director of Development and Executive Director in philanthropic strategy. Oversees the annual foundation audit process.
- Manages overall Advancement Office functions to include administrative support (clerical, reception, travel coordination, purchase orders, scheduling and coordinating meetings and special events). Develops, maintains, and reconciles the overall annual budget for the Foundation.
- Effectively communicates with Foundation donors, prospects, and alumni through various methods and strategies. Serves as the communication liaison between the SCC Foundation Board and the college. Prepares ongoing board information, such as meeting agendas, board training, and orientation materials; schedules meetings and conducts needed follow-up. Manages timelines on multiple projects and strategic initiatives.
- Manages the oversight and distribution of SCC’s Foundation student scholarship program. Maintains bookkeeping of scholarship and emergency awards. Establishes process and provides accurate oversight of the Foundation’s expenditures, endowments, and property to ensure fiscal responsibility to the Foundation board.
- Collaborates with Advancement office staff and Marketing in the creation and distribution of promotional materials for various donor and alumni campaigns and events.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
High school diploma and relevant experience in business management, public administration, or administrative services. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the required work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s and 3 or more years of office management experience.
