Applications are invited for the permanent position of Assistant Accountant, Grade 3 in the Finance Department at Sagicor General Insurance Trinidad & Tobago Limited. This position is based at our Port of Spain Office.

Job Summary

Responsible for managing day to day receipting, payables and general accounting functions of the Finance department.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

  • Oversee the payables function for claims, refunds, commission and admin expense payments.
  • Assist with all requirements of year-end statutory audits within stated timelines.
  • Prepare and post various journal entries.
  • Run system Depreciation & Revaluation.
  • Review and authorize all monthly bank and expense reconciliations and other Balance Sheet and P&L account analyses prepared by Finance staff.
  • Review all GIMS reconciliations and follow through with I.T and business analyst for necessary and timely corrective action.
  • Prepare various critical monthly recons, analyses and management reports as necessary and within stated timelines.
  • Prepare supporting notes for quarterly group reporting package as required.
  • Any other duties that may be required.

Knowledge & Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or level 2 ACCA or equivalent professional qualification
  • At least three (3) years’ relevant experience or a minimum of five (5) years’ experience within the General Insurance industry
  • Advanced knowledge of current GIMS functionality
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Good articulation
