About The Job Behavioural Scientist
We are looking for a Behavioural Scientist for a contracting role with our client in the Financial industry to support the Behavioural Economics (BE) unit to apply behavioural science principles in designing and executing money management solutions for clients.
The role involves conducting research, designing behavioural interventions, facilitating training, and executing business experiments to measure the impact of proposed solutions on client behaviour.
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business units to define target behaviours.
- Scope advisory projects and develop detailed work plans.
- Conduct literature reviews to contextualize target behaviours and interventions.
- Guide data exploration to quantify and contextualize behaviours.
- Undertake qualitative research to diagnose psychological barriers to target behaviours.
- Effectively communicate research findings to stakeholders.
- Design and propose behavioural interventions tailored to client needs.
- Support testing of behavioural interventions using methodologies such as RCTs or A/B tests.
- Facilitate training sessions for business units on applying behavioural insights.
- Manage and curate behavioural science research knowledge through sessions and documentation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders through consistent engagement.
- Position the BE Unit as a valuable partner by proactively engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
- Align individual contributions with departmental goals and monitor performance outcomes.
- Share insights and industry trends with team members and stakeholders.
- Resolve challenges by identifying solutions and escalating issues when necessary.
Essential Qualifications
- Grade 12 / Matric / National Senior Certificate.
- Honours Degree in Economics, Psychology, or Social Sciences.
Minimum Experience
- Over 5 years of experience consulting in financial services or working within a financial institution.
- Proven track record in applying behavioural science within large corporate environments.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure.

- Brainstorming and ideating on product or situational improvements.
- Conducting in-depth needs analyses to identify critical business challenges.
