Manager – Investment (Future Fund of Oman)

Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

To invest, oversee and divest the portfolio of the Fund in order to align their objectives with Future Fund of Oman (FFO) goals and ensure all respective measures are taken to drive exceptional performance .

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to the development of the Fund’ s strategy as cascaded down from the Oman Vision 2040 targeted sectors strategy and oversee its implementation and its operations, to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing entities’ strategies.
  • Manage the Fund’ s team of direct and indirect reports through effective recruitment, development, performance management, and succession planning, in order to maximize team performance and achieve Fund’ s objectives.
  • Manage the Fund’ s daily operations by providing expertise, enabling teamwork, and aligning processes, in order to achieve high performance standards and meet established targets.
  • Ensure Alignment of FFO with the country’s diversification objectives to make sure that the subsidiaries are reflecting to the national strategies and maximizing overall value for Oman.
  • Provide strategic guidance to FFO companies and to be aligned with the goals targeted in Vision 2040.
  • Manage the Investment and development initiatives being through new investments, capital projects, specific initiatives or strategic partnerships, etc. to support FFO in maximizing their returns/value.
  • Landscape the gaps and work with FFO teams, stakeholders and partners to structure and develop investments that maximize FFO, FDI and In Country Value.
  • Develop Socioeconomic impact matrix in liaison with Economic Research team, ICV team and other relevant Stakeholders
  • Manage the development and negotiation of each stage of the transaction process, from Initial deal review and structuring to the holding period and through the exit process, to ensure that FFO’s interests are being protected, optimized, , while maintaining good relationships with counterparties on deals.
  • Oversee the rights of FFO as a shareholder (or creditor) at FFO companies/investment which includes approving budgets, business plans, debt acquisition, investments, divestments, etc. to ensure proper management of shareholder reserved matters as per FFO’s governance guidelines.
  • Maintain awareness of the Fund developments in addition to continuous communication with the key stakeholders to stay well informed about the latest trends, develop and de-risk projects, enable foreign and local private and enhance In-Country Value.
  • Manage the periodic review and monitoring of operational and performance of the Fund companies and maintain overall understanding of the landscape.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on each portfolio company to communicate it with the concerned internal parties.
  • Manage the development, communication and implementation of the Fund’ s policies and procedures to ensure that all relevant procedural and legislative requirements are clearly communicated and duly fulfilled.
  • Manage Fund’ s compliance to all relevant health, safety, and quality requirements, in order to guarantee employee safety and legislative compliance.
  • Manage the contribution to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices considering ‘leading best practices’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or any other relevant field
  • Master’s degree is a plus
  • Preferable CFA, CMA, CPA, FMVA, FRM
  • 11-13 years of related work experience, with a minimum of 6 years of deep technical experience in Fund.
  • Hands on regulatory framework with experience in Investment banking/ private equity/ project finance
  • Previous Investment experience is required
  • Previous entrepreneur experience is a plus
  • Fluency in English is essential
  • Proficiency in MS Office is essential (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with business related software is desirable
