Job Summary:
The Medical Doctor is responsible for providing comprehensive medical care, conducting health assessments, diagnosing illnesses, and implementing treatment plans. This role requires a dedicated healthcare professional who can ensure optimal patient care while adhering to clinical guidelines and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Evaluation and Treatment:
- Conduct thorough health assessments and physical examinations of patients.
- Diagnose and treat various medical conditions and injuries.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs.
- Medication Management:
- Prescribe, administer, and monitor medications in accordance with relevant regulations.
- Educate patients on medication usage, potential side effects, and lifestyle modifications.
- Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that all patient care activities comply with established clinical guidelines and quality standards.
- Document patient evaluations, treatments, and medications accurately in medical records.
- Supervision and Collaboration:
- Supervise junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals to maintain compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Emergency Response:
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies, providing immediate care as necessary.
- Participate in the management of critical situations within the healthcare facility.
- Administrative Duties:
- Conduct pre-employment medical checks and routine health screenings.
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated on medical advancements.
Requirements
Job Specifications:
- Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Medicine (MBBS) from a recognized institution; current practicing license from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria is mandatory.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years post-NYSC experience in a clinical setting; additional qualifications such as a Master’s degree in a relevant field are advantageous.
Required Skills:
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in managing patient records and using electronic health systems.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of current healthcare regulations and ethical standards.
