Sales Specialist – Triathlon

This is a hybrid role based in our Boston office (fully office based during training period), so you must live within a commutable distance

Destination Sport Experiences, through its’ global sports travel brands Marathon Tours & Travel, Sportive Breaks, Tri Travel, HYROX Tours and Destination Sport Charity, cater for those who want to participate in the very best cycling, running and triathlon events across the world. All of the brands offer tours, travel packages, and guaranteed entry to marathons, cycling events, long-distance triathlons, HYROX events around the world, together with VIP hospitality access to many of the top professional cycling events as well as managing travel programs for mass participation events on behalf of charities, companies and groups throughout the year. We are a proud partner of many of the Abbott World Marathon Majors and work closely with major sports events organisers across the globe. Due to an exciting year of growth, we are now looking for an experienced Sales Specialist with an entrepreneurial spirit to join our passionate team in Boston. As the brand advocate of our new triathlon division, sales will be achieved through outbound phone calls, in person meetings, presentations and client events. This position will be ideal for a results-driven triathlon enthusiast who possesses exemplary people skills and a winning personality.

This is a varied, hands-on role and on a typical day you will:

  • Generate new business leads and manage a growing a database of clients.
  • Create client quotes, presentations and pitch documents to win new business.
  • Build relationships with triathlon clubs throughout the US and win group business.
  • Manage inbound inquiries generated through incoming calls, emails and website forms, and convert into sales.
  • Meet or exceed annual individual performance goals and revenue targets.
  • Contact charities, corporates, sports groups to discuss travel packages or bespoke challenge opportunities.
  • Ensure sales are updated within the in-house booking system.
  • Represent Destination Sport Experiences at customer facing industry meetings, Expo’s and conferences.
  • Produce client invoices and chase balance payments for upcoming trips.
  • Provide updates at weekly sales trading meetings.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to all clients and new leads at all times.
  • Take the lead on US marketing activity to promote the product to our current database and attract new customers.
  • Collaborate closely with internal team members in Marketing, Operations and Product for successful trip execution and new product development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

To be successful within this role, our ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working within the travel industry, a sports focus is highly desirable
  • Have 2+ years of sales experience
  • Demonstrate a strong network both local and national within the triathlon community is highly desirable
  • Be customer focused with a desire to learn and develop your skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Be a confident communicator in all settings including hosting presentations & sales pitches
  • Be Self Motivated with the ability to manage your own time effectively.
  • Be well organized with the ability to multitask and work well under pressure
  • Have a passion for endurance sports and travel.
  • Be sociable and energetic with a positive outlook
  • First-hand knowledge of some of the key destinations would be desirable such as Europe, South Africa, North America, China and Australia
  • Have previous experience as a participant in triathlon events would be highly desirable.
  • Be able to travel regularly both domestically and internationally.
