Chedid Capital is looking for a Risk Assistant Manager to be part of the Governance, Risk and Compliance Division. The role focuses on the Group’s operations in Africa and it is expected to increase the department’s effectiveness and achievement of business objectives within the scope of risk management.

Responsibilities

- Risk Framework: Hand over and support the implementation of Group Ascoma’s risk management framework and strategy. Define risk appetite and maintain a dynamic risk register, ensuring communication to stakeholders across all Group Ascoma entities.
- Risk Register and business continuity plan: Analyze and evaluate risks, periodically updating the risk register while working with risk owners to mitigate them within established guidelines. Develop and maintain a comprehensive business continuity plan.
- Risk Monitoring: Implement an automated dashboard for tracking Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for both financial and non-financial risks at the entity and group level against set limits defined in the Risk Appetite and Statement policy.
- Reporting: Advise management on risk controls, support reporting system development, and ensure effective communication of risk updates. Collaborate with external partners on risk projects.
- Risk Mitigation: Act in an advisory role to propose alternative solutions for mitigating elevated risks.
- Internal Controls: Conduct a gap analysis of the internal control framework to prevent violations and review the efficiency of processes periodically.
- Incident Reporting: Establish a structured incident reporting process to manage and address risk events efficiently.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed on regulations and best practices, assessing impacts in coordination with the Head of Compliance and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Audits: Conduct targeted risk assessments in volatile areas, documenting findings and addressing issues for further investigation.
- System Implementation: Oversee the integration of risk management systems, ensuring alignment with company objectives and facilitating communication with external vendors and third-party partners.
- Employee Communication: Serve as a confidential contact for concerns, offer guidance on risk matters, and ensure effective communication with third parties on system-related risks.
- Training: Deliver customized risk awareness training, ensuring content remains current and fosters a culture of compliance.
Requirements
- BAC +5 in Actuarial Science or Applied Mathematics or Finance
- At least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably with the financial sector.
- Hands-on experience in Enterprise Risk Management, specifically in operational and financial risk management at a minimum.
- Strong knowledge in financial accounting specifically financial consolidation.
- Knowledge for development of automated dashboards using SQL, Power BI and VBA-Excel.
- Dynamic, Organized, and Good Communication Skills
- Fluency in English and French.
- Willingness to travel to Africa as needed.
