SUMMARY:

The Welder will set up and perform standard or complex fusion or filler welds predominately utilizing TIG welding and sound welding practice to obtain desired results. All duties will be performed to meet or exceed Customer, AS9100/ISO9001 and regulatory requirements.

Job Level will be based on management judgment related to overall skill knowledge, competency, and application of skills utilized by this role.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Adhere at all times to Alloy Precision Technologies policies and procedures under the current revision.
  • Coordinate production orders to be processed with Group Leader.
  • Process Orders according to the MDL and prescribed work instructions.
  • Apply solid basic welding skills safely and proficiently at all times.
  • Use the Work Order Traveler as a guideline for part processing requirements.
  • Use the assigned Welding set-up sheet to assure process consistency from lot to lot.
  • Be able to set up the welding lathe, TIG torch, tungsten, and shielding gases to produce prescribed results.
  • Ability to tack weld components as required.
  • Ability to set up wire feeder for filler wire use.
  • Ability to hand feed filler wire as specific process requires.
  • Perform general leak tests on welded components to prescribed standards.
  • Ability to use other AB TIG weld processes utilizing the chamber, seam welder, tube mill, freehand weld as required.
  • Coordinate efforts with others in the department and Quality Control to assure parts are within specification.
  • Identify and report parts that are non-conforming and follow general shop procedures for follow-up.
  • Monitor the machines for general operating conditions. Advise Group Leader if a problem is noted so that it can be resolved.
  • Responsible for general cleanliness of machines and the assigned process area.
  • Responsible for handling and racking parts according to Alloy Precision Technologies general procedure standards.
  • Be flexible to support other shop processes on an as needed process.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • HS degree preferred but not required.
  • Minimally 3-5 years welding experience required.
  • High-end TIG welding experience is a plus.
  • Formal welding training is desired, with certifications available upon request.
  • Be willing to learn. Must have a high level of energy, be a self-starter, be results-oriented, confident, and have strong organization skills.
  • Flexibility and being proactive is instrumental in the success of this role

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to move throughout the shop floor.
  • Must be able to stand for an extended period of time.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

While on the shop floor, you must wear safety glasses.
