Contributes to the planning, designing, purchasing, and implementation of changes to the manufacturing equipment and systems while supporting cross-functional teams. The role involves applying manufacturing principles to improve processes, ensure safety, achieve manufacturing goals, and meet product specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Assists with specific projects to create and implement manufacturing processes, ensuring alignment with safety requirements, manufacturing objectives, and product specifications.
- Applies knowledge of manufacturing principles and practices to enhance equipment and processes.
- Contributes to the development of manufacturing standards and continuous improvement tools.
- Collaborates with internal and external resources on assigned project tasks.
- Learns and applies manufacturing principles and practices as they pertain to Cummins’ systems.

- Basic level of relevant work experience required.
Knowledge/Skills
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Experience with cylinder block, cylinder head, and connecting rod machining processes.
- Familiarity with various machine tools and manufacturing equipment.
- Proficiency in CNC programming languages.
- Experience with machine tool controllers such as FANUC and Siemens.
- Selection, design, and application of cutting tools and fixtures for optimized machining.
- Capability to analyze machining processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
- Experience with process planning and cycle time reduction.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Project management skills to ensure timelines, budgets, and deliverables are met.
- Good communication skills for reporting, documentation, and collaboration with stakeholders.

Qualifications
Education, Licenses, and Certifications:
- College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or a related field, or equivalent experience required.
