Job Description

The Humanities Instructor position is a 9-month, tenure-track faculty position with an anticipated start date of August 2025. The successful candidate will teach Humanities courses as assigned. This position requires the effective teaching and advising of diverse students, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a commitment to the comprehensive state college mission. The successful candidate will prepare course plans and materials, effectively deliver subject matter content, monitor student attendance and progress, participate in curriculum development, support activities that foster retention, participate in the selection of textbooks, perform an assessment of student learning outcomes, serve on department and college-wide committees, and take part in other service and professional development activities as appropriate. Multiple campus, day, evening, and distance learning teaching assignments are possible. This position reports to the Department Head, Humanities and Social Sciences.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a master’s degree in Humanities or a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and a minimum of 18 graduate semester credit hours in the discipline. Successful results of a background check are required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a doctoral degree in Humanities. Post-secondary teaching experience and experience teaching distance learning courses are preferred.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of

A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

2025-2026 Academic Year Salary Range

$42,250.00 – $48,250.00 for a 9-month contract with a master’s degree

$47,000.00 – $53,000.00 for a 9-month contract with a doctoral degree (in field).

Pay Details

Faculty members hired with less than three years of related experience shall be placed on the salary schedule as follows:

164 Day Base (2024 – 2025)

  • Bachelor’s or Less – $39,500
  • Master’s – $42,250
  • Master’s Plus – $44,000
  • Doctorate – $47,000

All degree classification levels add the appropriate dollars (up to $6,000) for years of credited experience to the annual salary figures above to determine entry salary.
