Wood is currently sourcing for a Mechanical Supervisor (Local National) to strengthen our team in Basra, Iraq

Responsibilities

  • Receive and verify all mechanical equipment, ensuring conformity to project specifications and standards.
  • Coordinate and schedule equipment deliveries to the site, planning and managing logistics for all mechanical equipment.
  • Develop and implement preservation plans for mechanical equipment on-site, ensuring proper maintenance until installation.
  • Supervise the installation of all mechanical equipment, including static and rotating equipment, pipelines, and support structures.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure site readiness, including foundation preparation and electrical interfaces.
  • Be proactive in addressing potential issues and ensuring smooth installation processes.
  • Implement and oversee QA/QC procedures during equipment installation, conducting inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Manage and coordinate mechanical construction activities, resolving any on-site technical issues.
  • Assist in pre-commissioning and commissioning of mechanical systems, ensuring all systems meet performance criteria.
  • Prepare and manage the hand-over of mechanical systems, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Interface between interdisciplinary departments and within international teams, ensuring seamless integration of mechanical systems.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation, including technical reports and specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues, providing technical support as needed.
  • Monitor a team of contractor’s mechanical technicians, providing guidance and training as necessary.
  • Monitor and control project costs related to mechanical work, identifying, and implementing cost-saving measures.
  • Develop and manage mechanical work schedules, ensuring timely completion of all mechanical activities.
  • Assist in the procurement of mechanical equipment and materials, reviewing vendor documentation for compliance.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to mechanical activities, implementing contingency plans as necessary.
  • Manage changes to mechanical systems and documentation, evaluating and approving change requests.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, implementing best practices for mechanical system performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering,
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in the oil industry
  • Strong understanding of Oil & Gas International Codes and Standards
  • Proactive and team-oriented approach with the ability to work collaboratively across complex project teams
  • Support and enforce TTEEPRH guidelines and HSE objectives.
  • Participate/Lead Job Safety Analysis, stop dangerous situations, and report anomalies and dangerous acts.
  • Evaluate and manage the Co-Activities with Construction SPVs
  • Ensure operations complies with local regulation and TEEP GGIP policies.
  • Attend HSE meetings and training when necessary.
  • Enforce Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel
