Designcraft is a prototype-oriented job shop helping our client companies bring new products to the market. No two days are ever the same. With varying quantities, part dimensions, materials and finishes you will be challenged to grow your skill set daily while working amongst our team of highly skilled individuals.

Our CAD team supports nearly every other department in the company. Evaluating and manipulating customer data and creating the fixturing required to machine custom parts. They review and help plan how we make all the physical parts, from visual models and engineering prototypes to small production runs. Visual models are used for client evaluation, product photography, focus groups, and tradeshows. Sometimes they are the final product used by end customers.

Common tasks include:

  • Data manipulation to create the 3D CAD puzzles that become visual models
  • Creation of CAD files for custom fixturing/work holding for our machinists
  • 2D drawing evaluation for tolerances and inspections
  • Working with Program Managers to plan fabrication
  • Graphic application and related Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop work

This position requires a self-starter mentality. The nature of prototyping demands project deadlines measured in days or weeks. Successful team members are detail oriented, organized, and have a do what it takes approach. Communication with others on the team will be integral in moving a project to completion. Your primary objective is to make sure the product meets our standards and the customer’s requirements, when it comes to form, fit and function.

Ideal Team Member:

  • CREO experience, or similar CAD program for solid and surface modeling
  • GD&T knowledge, understanding tolerances on 2D prints
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime, and have a “do what it takes” attitude
  • Knowledge of manufacturing technologies like milling, turning, 3D printing, etc.
  • Possess an analytical problem solving mindset
  • Detail Oriented
  • Works well in a team of specialists
