Position Title: Director of Human Resources

Reports to: Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources

Supervises: Co-supervises HR Department staff

Knowledge, Skills,

Abilities Required: Strong verbal and written skills; ability to relate well with people; good judgment in evaluating qualifications of applications; effectiveness in planning and organizing work; working knowledge of state policy and law related to K-12 education; knowledge and skill in investigating personnel situations preferred; successful school administration and/or central office experience required.

Education, Training

Required: Master’s degree or higher; appropriate administrative licensure

Salary: Negotiable based on experience.

Major Job Function: To direct and supervise personnel functions under the direction and advisement of the Assistant Superintendent of

Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the classified personnel functions and operational activities.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures in the administration of personnel services.
  • Give leadership in the development, revision, implementation, and interpretation of Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Assure that applicants recommended for classified positions meet the qualifications of the position and school district.
  • Develop and monitor classified allotments for school sites.
  • Assist in approving new employees and any changes in salaries and/or hours for employment for existing employees.
  • Perform District Administrator duties in NCEES.
  • Manage Frontline recruitment and hiring and Frontline Central.
  • Advise and monitor 90-day and annual performance evaluations for classified employees.
  • Assist in responding appropriately regarding personnel matters and document personnel files appropriately.
  • Conduct investigations to grievances filed against both classified and licensed personnel.
  • Attend conferences, workshops, etc., pertaining to K-12 employment.
  • Attend K-12 principals meetings.
  • Assist in updating the employee and substitute handbook yearly.
  • Assist in providing documentation for unemployment claims and serve as employer representative in unemployment hearings.
  • Assist in providing documentation for EEOC complaints and participate in hearings/mediations.
  • Update and maintain job descriptions for classified positions.
  • Assist with HR Departmental events, and represent HR at district functions for other departments as assigned.
  • Perform such other assignments as may be given by the Assistant Superintendent.
