Requirements

Education and Experience : A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Public or Business Administration, Communications, Public relations or a closely related field, and five (5) years of increasingly responsible professional support experience or managing a complex organization which includes one (1) year of project management.

Licenses and Certificates : Texas Class “C” Driver’s License or equivalent from another state.

General Purpose

Under general direction, facilitate, plan, coordinate and implement special projects that will assist the City of El Paso’s organizational effectiveness.

Typical Duties

Facilitate, plan, coordinate and supervise the activities involved in the development and implementation of special projects to include but not limited to internal/external communication, video project promoting, website development and coordination. Involves: Assess departmental priorities and objectives and make action recommendations to the department head or assigned designee. Outreach initiatives to aid city programs, projects, and departments. Obtain and evaluate information from a variety of sources. Conduct complex studies and prepares reports. Meet with community groups and members of the public. Prepare and deliver presentations. Prepare correspondence in response to requests for information. Perform other responsibilities as required.

Supervise assigned personnel. Involves: Supervise directly and through subordinate supervisors. Schedule, assign and check work. Appraise employee performance and review evaluations by subordinate supervisors. Provide for training and development. Enforce personnel rules and regulations and work behavior standards firmly and impartially. Counsel, motivate and maintain harmony. As appointing authority, interview applicants and hire, terminate, transfer, discipline, and assign merit pay or other employee status changes.
