GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Director Ag Business Affairs is responsible for improving current process and workflow for leases, grower contracts and other administrative documents. This role will also be responsible for supporting the Ag management team with proper documents, data analysis, and communication needed to meet objectives for DFV.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
- Manages process for growing contracts, land leases, and other legal documents for timely internal approvals, execution, and renewals.
- Develops growing budgets for internal and external growers for joint deal agreements.
- Responsible for a plant to harvest matrix for each commodity. Analyzes matrix and goals to ensure volumes and other threshold metrics are met.
- Coordinates Ag operations CAPEX projects for justifications, tracking of spend and capitalization. Leads Operational Excellence analysis reporting and recommendations.
- Maintains and grows relationships with external partners to drive success for DFV operations.
- Responsible for publishing weekly Crop Report to DFV departments. Alerts stakeholders when unforeseen anomalies occur. Resolves reporting discrepancies and continually improves process.
- Creates and maintains Ag sustainability tracker and initiatives for internal and external reporting.
- Works cross functionally with internal teams to adjust for and notify stakeholders of volume changes, growing forecast variances, and grower contract adjustments in operational plans.
- Analyzes grower statements and deal structures to determine profitability by grower and commodity. Provides summaries of findings and recommendations for improvements to DFV leadership.
- Ensures business costs are allocated appropriately. Partners with VP of Harvesting to validate accuracy of all charges.
Required Skills
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
- 10 years’ experience managing data and contracts in an Agricultural setting
- Background in finance with exposure to the Agriculture industry
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience with internal document controls
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work with people at all levels of an organization
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within interpretive guidelines, take initiative, and perform effectively in fast-paced and constantly changing environment
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear.
- The employee must occasionally lift (including overhead) and/or up to 15 lbs.
WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work beyond regular business hours
- Travel to field operations locations as needed
Required Experience
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration/management, or related field required
PAY RATE:
- $165,000 – $175,000 Annually
