Job Description

We are currently seeking a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) . The counselor completes assessments, individual, group and family therapy, coordinates care with psychiatrist, referral sources, primary care physicians, assists with completion of all necessary case records on all assigned students, updating information as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited school of social work
  • Current licensure in good standing in the state of Louisiana

Experience

  • Three to five years of post-master’s experience working with children, adolescents, families and adults
  • Prior outpatient treatment experience

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • High level of ethics in managing patient confidentiality and advocacy
  • Able to utilize telephone, computer, printer, fax, and copier while performing certain duties
  • Evaluates and helps resolve urgent or emergent situations.
  • Good listening skills, alertness, problem- solving skills under stressful situations.
  • Creative in use of therapeutic techniques.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, and other staff in written and verbal form.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Stands, walks, sits, and converses most of the day.
  • Carries relatively light materials.
  • Good memory, concentration, judgment, patience and initiative.

I: Essential Duties/Responsibilities (Position):

Patient Relations

  • Achieves customer/patient satisfaction by greeting patients and proactively attending to their needs.
  • Responds to patient requests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information at work and off duty.
  • Provides health education to students, families, and/or community health practitioners and groups, within area of specialty.

Assessment

  • Performs initial assessments, evaluations, diagnoses, treatment, follow up, and education relevant to the clients care (age specific).
  • Obtains histories and develops treatment plans and notes, ensuring accuracy and competency
  • Acts as an advocate for the safety delivery of care and wellbeing of the client.
  • Assists individual students in addressing obstacles that interfere with personal/social, career or educational development.
  • Identifies and offers assistance to students coping in crisis.
  • Suggests and/or directs intervention procedures in the school, home, and/or community with students/teachers/parents to improve and alleviate academic or relationship problems.
  • Identifies and counsels potential dropouts.
  • Conducts evaluations of referred children when social, developmental, adaptive behavior, and/or family assessments are necessary.
  • Coordinates and/or cooperates with other staff members on evaluations of students and families.
  • Interprets evaluating findings and recommends corrective procedures to school personnel, other concerned professional, families and students.
  • Participates in case conferences.
  • Delivers, or coordinates delivery of, social work services for children who would benefit from such services, including but not restricted to counseling, and/or training either on an individual or group basis.
  • Confers with teachers, parents, or other professional concerning school social work services.
  • Serves as consultant for teachers and other personnel.
