About The Position
Job Title: RN – Med/Surg – Correctional

- Shift: 8:00 PM-8:30 AM – Night Shift
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week
- Length of Assignment: 13 weeks
- Target Start Date: 02/03/2025
Duties
This is a position within a correctional health setting. The RN will provide direct nursing care to patients, particularly in medical/surgical settings. The RN will be responsible for the following:
- Administering medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Assessing patient conditions and monitoring vital signs.
- Performing IV insertion and phlebotomy.
- Assisting in conscious sedation procedures.
- Maintaining patient records and ensuring compliance with infection control protocols.
- Participating in patient education and providing necessary instructions.
- Responding to medical emergencies as required.
- Supporting the overall healthcare team and collaborating on patient care strategies.
Skills
- Required:
- Medical/Surgical nursing experience.
- IV Insertion and phlebotomy.
- Conscious sedation procedures.
- Phlebotomy.
- Emergency Response.
- CPR (Certified).
- Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Infection Control knowledge.
- Additional Skills:
- Sterile techniques.
- Experience in therapeutic patient care.
- Patient education.
- Experience with laboratory and pharmacy procedures.
- Ability to work with mental health patients.
- Knowledge of medical records management.
- Required:
- New York State RN License
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
