Position Summary The Sales Director, Minerals and Nutrients, coordinates the sales activities of the Minerals and Nutrients Business Unit, working closely with internal teams such as Senior Business Director, Product Manager, Marketing, and Research & Development. This role is responsible for the execution and development of the commercial strategy in alignment with the overall business plan for the Americas. Additionally, the Sales Director is tasked with setting the sales account strategies to achieve budget goals and foster growth in existing business. The position requires active involvement in managing customer accounts, maintaining strategic relationships, and overseeing the activities of account managers and distribution partners.Essential Functions
- Build and execute commercial strategy to achieve financial targets.
- Develop annual sales budgets for product lines and consistently track progress.
- Cultivate strong strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Drive Account Managers to generate and close new business opportunities using product and integrated solution selling techniques.
- Develop and manage target account plans with Account Managers.
- Oversee the prospecting and closing of new business opportunities at assigned accounts.
- Set sales expectations for Account Managers, including sales calls, reporting, prospecting, and new account development.
- Supervise day-to-day activities of assigned Account Managers.
- Plan, schedule, and conduct sales calls to targeted accounts and prospects.
- Facilitate meetings involving various company professionals to provide multi-level support and build relationships.
- Coordinate sales efforts to ensure effective service, customer relations, and administrative support.
- Provide up-to-date and accurate business forecasts.
- Monitor Account Managers’ use of Salesforce.com for maintaining account information and tracking opportunities.
- Collaborate on commercial project development with cross-functional teams.
- Collect and analyze competitive market intelligence to support decision-making.
- Work closely with Customer Service to ensure high-quality service levels.
- Collaborate with other internal functions as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all corporate policies and procedures.
- Supervise a team of Account Managers.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, chemistry, or a related field.
- Strong customer relations and sales skills, with the ability to lead a team.
- Ability to effectively coordinate team efforts and build strong working relationships.
- Excellent organizational skills and follow-up capabilities.
- Solid knowledge of food ingredients, ideally in the Dietary Supplements industry.
- 5-10 years of experience in ingredient sales.
Working Conditions
- Travel: Minimum 50% travel required.
