Senior Software Engineer (Backend/Cloud)

Role overview

LionsBot International creates robots that people enjoy using. The company is hiring a Senior Software Engineer focused on backend and cloud engineering to help build scalable systems for robotics operations at a global level.

In this role, you will create cloud-native services, microservices, distributed systems, and live data platforms that support monitoring, control, and data-led operations across the robotic ecosystem. You will work with APIs, event-driven designs, and data pipelines while ensuring strong performance, reliability, and security as the platform grows.

You will also own important cloud infrastructure and DevOps responsibilities, including continuous integration and delivery, infrastructure as code, observability, backup planning, and disaster recovery. The platform supports more than 5,000 robots running every day in over 30 countries.

Key responsibilities

• Build and evolve scalable cloud-native backend services and microservices that coordinate the global robot fleet.
• Create real-time APIs and data pipelines that enable robot monitoring, control, and intelligent operations.
• Implement DevOps workflows such as CI/CD, infrastructure as code, cloud deployment, and operational automation.
• Set up and maintain strong standards for observability, resilience, backups, and disaster recovery.
• Support security and compliance efforts, including ISO27001, SOC2, and GDPR, through secure design and disciplined operations.
• Design distributed systems that can perform reliably and securely at global scale.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a similar field.
• At least 3 years of professional experience developing production backend and cloud systems.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Golang and Spring Boot.
• Production experience with PostgreSQL, Neo4j, Kafka, Redis, and TimescaleDB.
• Familiarity with real-time communication tools such as gRPC, MQTT, WebSocket, or WebRTC.
• Practical experience deploying services on AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Working knowledge of Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud security practices.
• Experience applying DevOps methods and observability practices such as logging, metrics, tracing, and monitoring.
• Proven ability to design and run scalable distributed systems and microservices in production.

Preferred experience

• Experience supporting robots, robotic fleets, or IoT devices in live environments.
• Exposure to OpenRMF, ROS, or related robotics communication frameworks.
• Background with smart building systems, access control, or IoT platforms.
• Experience integrating hardware and software in real-world systems.

This position is based in Changi, East Region, Singapore and is a full-time onsite role.
