Senior Accountant

Role overview

We are seeking a Senior Accountant for a full-time, on-site position in Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Emirate, United Arab Emirates. This position is with a confidential employer and is suited to professionals with a strong background in accounting within an Investment Banking, Holding, or Private Equity environment, which is required.

What you will do

• Oversee daily accounting activities, including upkeep of general ledger accounts.
• Prepare journal entries and manage month-end as well as year-end closing processes.
• Compile and review financial statements, reconciliations, and related support schedules to maintain accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Track accounts payable and accounts receivable activity.
• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.
• Work with internal and external auditors and help strengthen audit readiness.
• Improve internal controls and assist in developing and rolling out accounting policies and procedures.
• Partner closely with finance leadership and cross-functional teams in an on-site setting.

What we are looking for

• Strong command of accounting principles, financial reporting, and close processes.
• Ability to prepare and review accurate financial statements and supporting documentation.
• Hands-on experience with accounting software, ERP platforms, MS Excel, and reporting tools.
• Practical exposure to budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cash flow management.
• Experience in a corporate or public accounting environment, with senior-level accounting responsibility.
• Solid understanding of internal controls, audits, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent analytical ability, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage several deadlines and priorities.
• Confident communication skills for working with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, or CA is mandatory.
• Several years of progressive accounting experience; experience in multinational or regional organizations is an advantage.

Mandatory sector experience

Prior experience in an Investment Banking, Holding, or Private Equity entity is mandatory for this role.
