Role summary

This position calls for scientific support in the creation, validation, and execution of flow cytometry-based assays used in research, preclinical work, and clinical studies. The role also includes processing samples for flow-based testing in line with relevant standards, regulatory requirements, and standard operating procedures.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the maintenance of laboratory supplies, including ordering items and obtaining supplier quotations.
  • Keep laboratory instruments clean, serviced, and calibrated when needed.
  • Maintain a tidy, safe, and orderly lab environment.
  • Contribute to the development, refinement, and validation of biological assays, especially flow cytometry and related cell-based methods for human and animal studies.
  • Carry out assay work for research programs, preclinical projects, and clinical trials.
  • Work in line with ISO/IEC 17025, OECD GLP principles, GCLP principles, the company quality system, and NATA-related regulatory expectations.
  • Help ensure laboratory work is performed safely and efficiently.

  • Assist with SOP preparation, record keeping, data analysis, presentation, and interpretation where needed.

Requirements

  • A BSc (Honours) in a biological discipline, together with relevant experience, is essential.
  • A PhD in a biological discipline or equivalent experience is an advantage.
  • Prior experience with medical laboratory techniques is required.
  • Strong practical background in flow cytometry and cell-based assays is essential.
  • Experience with optimisation and validation of flow cytometry assays and related techniques is required.
  • Experience handling and analysing clinical samples is required.
  • Strong organisational and writing abilities are essential.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills are essential.
  • Experience using database software and managing files is desirable.
  • Exposure to early-phase clinical trials is desirable.
