Plant Operator

Role overview

This position sits within a major engineering and facilities maintenance environment in the GCC and focuses on keeping chiller plants running smoothly in large commercial, industrial, and institutional properties. The work is highly practical and centres on protecting cooling performance, reducing outages, and ensuring essential infrastructure operates reliably day after day.

Key responsibilities

• Run and observe chiller plant equipment on a day-to-day basis.
• Carry out regular checks to confirm the system remains sound and performs as expected.
• Diagnose and fix electrical and electronic issues affecting chiller plant operations.
• Complete preventive and corrective maintenance to limit breakdowns and downtime.
• Keep track of chilled water circuits, pumps, motors, cooling towers, and control panels.
• Maintain clear and accurate logs of plant readings and maintenance work performed.
• Act quickly when equipment problems arise and assist with troubleshooting.
• Follow all safety rules and internal operating procedures while completing tasks.
• Work closely with maintenance staff and supervisors to support consistent operational performance.

Requirements

• ITI qualification in Electrical, Electronics, HVAC, Refrigeration, or another relevant technical discipline.
• At least 6 years of hands-on experience in chiller plant operations and maintenance.
• Background working in commercial complexes, industrial sites, hotels, hospitals, airports, malls, or large infrastructure projects.
• GCC experience is an advantage, though it is not compulsory.
• Strong working knowledge of chiller plant systems, HVAC equipment, and chilled water circuits.
• Ability to maintain electrical and electronic equipment, including motor control panels and cooling towers.
• Experience with planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, and technical troubleshooting.
• Exposure to Building Management Systems (BMS).
• Good understanding of industrial safety practices.
