Engineering Manager

Role overview

Tarabut’s engineering group in Saudi Arabia is expanding, and this position sits at the heart of that growth. As Engineering Manager, you will guide a team of 5 to 8 engineers, taking ownership of their delivery outcomes, technical development, and overall experience within the company. Your role is to keep the team operating effectively by clearing obstacles, running disciplined team rituals, providing direct and thoughtful feedback, and ensuring quality work reaches production.

Team delivery

• Take accountability for your team’s delivery commitments, making sure work is planned well, communicated clearly, and completed consistently to a strong standard.
• Facilitate core sprint activities such as planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups, while reinforcing the operating rhythm that keeps delivery reliable.
• Spot blockers early and escalate them to the Head of Engineering when necessary, instead of allowing issues to linger.
• Keep a close eye on technical debt in your team’s area and partner with the team to resolve it in a structured, sensible way.

People and talent development

• Hold regular one-on-one meetings with each engineer, offering candid, constructive feedback and actively supporting their development.
• Take part in hiring for engineering positions in KSA by reviewing applications, interviewing candidates, and helping evaluate both technical ability and cultural fit.
• Support new hires as they join the team so they are prepared to contribute effectively from the beginning.
• Recognize engineers who are ready for greater responsibility and work with the Head of Engineering to create the right environment for their growth.

Technical contribution

• Stay sufficiently close to the team’s engineering work to contribute to code reviews, architecture discussions, and incident handling when your input is valuable.
• Ensure the team’s output aligns with Tarabut’s standards for engineering quality, security, and reliability, especially within a regulated operating setting in KSA.
• Work alongside other engineering managers and the Head of Engineering to keep technical practices aligned across the KSA engineering organization.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in software engineering, including at least 1 to 2 years in a formal leadership role such as principal engineer, tech lead, team lead, or engineering manager.
• Practical backend or full-stack development experience with enough depth to assess code, influence technical decisions, and gain the confidence of the engineers you lead.
• Demonstrated ability to help engineers progress through mentoring, feedback, and building conditions that support strong performance.
• Experience in an agile delivery setup, including confidence running sprint ceremonies and managing a backlog.
• Strong English communication skills, with the ability to explain technical progress and risk clearly to non-technical audiences.
