Role overview
This position is focused on keeping plant mechanical assets dependable, safe, and available for operation. The engineer will support predictive and preventive maintenance work, coordinate shutdown and day-to-day maintenance, and help ensure compliance with company procedures, safety requirements, and budget limits.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out routine mechanical maintenance work in line with approved policies, procedures, SOPs, and instructions so the work remains controlled and consistent.
- Stay updated on current best practices and industry trends in mechanical maintenance and contribute ideas for improving systems, processes, and methods.
- Help build daily, weekly, and monthly preventive and predictive maintenance plans in coordination with Production, Technology, and CES teams.
- Prepare resourcing plans based on the maintenance schedule for both regular maintenance and shutdown-related activities.
- Compile mechanical performance data, track KPI results, create review reports, and share corrective actions or escalations with the lead maintenance team when needed.
- Plan mechanical spare inventory controls, obtain approvals, and issue spares for execution of work as required.
- Support the discipline manager in identifying spare parts for procurement and follow up with vendors, purchase, and stores teams to confirm availability.
- Assist with maintenance cost planning and budgeting and analyze spending to support efficient use of resources.
- Execute and supervise mechanical maintenance activities with an emphasis on quality and safety, ensuring work is completed on time and to required standards.
- Handle preventive and corrective maintenance of plant machinery to reduce production or quality losses.
- Assess equipment condition and monitor performance trends to spot irregularities and improve equipment availability.
- Perform preservation activities according to schedule to maintain equipment and asset performance and readiness.
- Support shutdown execution according to plan and timeline.
- Conduct regular look, listen, and feel inspections in the plant to identify likely failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Work with Production, Quality, CES, EHS, and Technology teams to identify issues and implement actions that improve plant health.
- Carry out troubleshooting and root cause analysis with CES support when technical input is needed.
- Maintain IMS documentation for mechanical maintenance to preserve records for review and audits.
- Participate in reliability and integrity studies for mechanical systems and components to support safe and reliable operation.
- Keep SAP PM and SAP MM records accurate by entering pending jobs, validations, costs, and related data correctly and on time.
- Coordinate with the workshop team for repair work to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.
- Support minor project activities whenever required.
- Follow all maintenance-related safety, fire, and environmental requirements to maintain a safe workplace.
- Monitor plant machinery for safety, fire, and environmental hazards tied to mechanical maintenance and take steps to reduce risk.
- Investigate safety incidents with safety teams, help prepare action plans, and implement corrective measures to prevent repeat issues.
- Assist in emergency response for safety or fire events to support quick resolution.
- Prepare audit-related reports and documents, support lead maintenance during audits, and help implement agreed actions.
- Ensure audit timelines are met and corrective steps are carried out where gaps are found.
- Support HSEF compliance activities, including RESOP, MIQA, CFA, and DOSHE mandatory training, and help implement action plans that strengthen safe work practices.
- Track and coordinate contractor activities to ensure they follow established policies and procedures.
- Ensure completion of mandatory training requirements in line with company processes.
- Perform any additional related duties assigned by senior authorities from time to time.
Education and experience
Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a Diploma in Mechanical/Production. The role requires 1 to 3 years of plant maintenance experience; diploma holders are expected to bring higher relevant experience.
