Role overview
Playe is hiring a Designer to join its in-house creative team supporting a major Australian retail brand in Sydney. This is a fixed-term, full-time contract running from August 2026 through January 2027, with a hybrid setup that requires three days per week in the office.
The position sits in a high-volume creative environment where work spans print, presentations, and digital channels. You will turn complex commercial information into polished, easy-to-navigate visuals that stay on brand and support business goals.
What you will be creating
The role covers a broad mix of design outputs, including multi-page publications, business presentation decks, point-of-sale assets, marketing collateral, websites, email, and social content. You will move between print production and digital design, maintaining consistency across every touchpoint.
Core responsibilities
You will partner with a design lead and the wider creative team, shaping concepts, flatplans, and final artwork for stakeholder review. The work calls for both strong execution and the ability to explain creative decisions clearly.
Additional requirements and working conditions
The role demands careful attention to production standards, including pre-press and print specifications, presentation requirements, SPAM Act compliance, and accessibility considerations. You will also need to manage several projects at once, identify possible blockers early, and keep work moving in a fast-paced setting.
Collaboration is central to the role, including working with commercial teams, marketing, copywriters, and, when needed, external specialists such as printers, pre-press partners, presentation experts, photographers, retouchers, motion designers, and illustrators.
Experience and technical focus
Applicants should bring at least five years of relevant experience, ideally gained in corporate or B2B presentation design, multi-page publishing, or an internal agency environment. Strong command of Adobe Creative Cloud is expected, especially InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, along with Figma and presentation tools such as Google Slides, PowerPoint, or Keynote.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable translating briefs into structured visual stories, using hierarchy, typography, grid systems, colour, and composition to communicate clearly. An interest in emerging technologies, new production methods, and AI-led workflow improvements is also valued.
What success looks like
Success in this role means producing clean, structured, commercially effective creative work while staying adaptable, organised, and resilient under pressure. You should be confident working across channels, collaborating with stakeholders, and making design choices with an awareness of business impact.
Contract details
This is a fixed-term contract from August 2026 to January 2027. The job is full-time and based in Sydney with three days per week required onsite in the office.
