Role overview
American Express is hiring an Analyst in the Credit & Fraud Risk (CFR) Analytics & Data Science Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. The team focuses on helping the business grow profitably by lowering fraud risk, keeping credit losses among the lowest in the industry, and using data-led decisioning to improve customer experience.
This role sits at the center of risk, fraud, and marketing analytics. It involves building and validating predictive models, using them in decision logic, and turning data into practical business outcomes. The work supports decisions across customer targeting, underwriting, onboarding, and ongoing customer management.
You will work on problems that affect millions of customers, with exposure to senior leaders in analytics, data science, and machine learning. The position is suited to someone who enjoys tackling complex, real-world business challenges and developing solutions powered by data.
What you will do
- Develop, test, deploy, and validate predictive models used to improve decision-making across risk, fraud, and marketing.
- Study the core business and understand the drivers behind major decisions.
- Work with large datasets to uncover insights and build new solution approaches.
- Use the Amex network’s closed-loop data to make decisions smarter and more relevant.
- Apply big data and machine learning methods to create better ways of solving business problems.
- Present findings clearly to leaders and key stakeholders across customer and prospect domains.
- Stay informed about developments in finance, payments, analytics, and related fields.
What we are looking for
- MBA or a master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- 0 to 30 months of experience in analytics.
- Ability to own project deliverables and drive them toward business outcomes.
- Comfort working in collaborative, cross-functional teams.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Creative problem-solving ability with a fast learning curve.
- Capability to work independently on complex, open-ended initiatives.
- Ability to collaborate with business partners across regions.
