About the internship
This role is for a backend development intern who wants to contribute to education-focused technology work with a grassroots nonprofit. You will help build and improve platform features that support learning initiatives for children in underserved communities.
The organization is a government-registered society working to remove barriers to education in slum and marginalized communities. Its mission is to create supportive learning spaces and use community partnerships and innovative methods to help children gain the tools they need for a better future.
What you will work on
- Partner with the development team to plan and implement backend system solutions.
- Create and manage database structures using MySQL and MongoDB.
- Develop readable, efficient, and maintainable code in Python, Java, and PHP.
- Connect external APIs and build REST-based web services.
- Add security measures that help safeguard data integrity.
- Improve application speed and resolve technical problems when they arise.
- Keep track of current tools and trends so the platform continues to improve.
