Role Overview
This position is centered on commercial modelling and bid management for large, complex regional opportunities. The incumbent will own the financial and commercial structuring of major sales deals, align customer expectations with Tata Communications’ offerings, and shape commercially viable win-win proposals. The role also drives bid qualification, secures required approvals, and contributes meaningfully to medium-term business outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
The role calls for 7 to 12 years of relevant professional experience. Candidates should hold a degree in Engineering, Commerce, or Science, with an MBA, CA, or ICWA in Finance preferred.
Skills and Knowledge
The role requires experience in commercial operations or bid management, strong financial and business understanding, analytical thinking, and strategic judgement. Candidates should be comfortable presenting and communicating clearly, working with MS Excel, handling complex datasets, and applying techno-commercial reasoning. Experience in building sophisticated pricing models and strategies, forecasting financial outcomes, and understanding accounting concepts such as taxation, balance sheet treatment, and overhead allocation is important.
Key Responsibilities
- Support contract discussions with legal, sales, commercial management, and customers whenever required.
- Evaluate major proposals from a commercial governance standpoint and advise the sales team on any exceptions or deviations.
- Oversee the creation of customer proposals, ensuring that a strong win strategy is defined and delivered, and that the final proposal clearly communicates the solution and customer value.
- Take corrective action through planning and forecasting to ensure efficient use of resources and strong customer outcomes.
- Handle high-value financial contracts and assess changes that could affect the underlying business case, while staying mindful of commercial and legal exposure.
- Lead bid qualification efforts and secure all required approvals for bid completion, including guidance on bid/no-bid decisions, strategy, and partnering choices.
- Maintain the bid risk register and develop mitigation plans, escalating issues and risks to the relevant stakeholders.
- Contribute as an individual performer or manage a small team, depending on business need.
Additional Information
This is a tactical role with a strong impact on the business unit’s medium-term results.
The position is based in Pune Division, Maharashtra, India and is expected to be performed onsite.
