Role Overview
Motherson Technology Services Limited is looking for an Optical and Thermal Simulation Engineer to strengthen the design and optimization of optical and heat-management systems. The role focuses on simulation work using Ansys SPEOS and Siemens FloEFD, with applications in automotive lighting, displays, sensors, and thermal systems. A major emphasis will be on projection and headlamp-related development.
What You Will Do
- Run optical studies in Ansys SPEOS to measure and improve lighting performance, including decoupling structures, stray light behavior, and photometric characteristics.
- Carry out thermal simulations for optical and electronic assemblies using Siemens FloEFD to study heat transfer, thermal deformation, and the influence of materials.
- Refine illumination and imaging designs by tuning light guides, extraction structures, reflectors, lenses, and diffusers.
- Check designs against applicable regulations and customer-driven technical requirements.
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to embed optical solutions into broader product systems.
- Review simulation outputs and convert findings into practical design recommendations.
- Support prototype development and physical validation of optical solutions.
- Prepare clear technical reports and documentation covering methods, assumptions, and results.
Required Background
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Hands-on experience using Ansys SPEOS for optical simulation.
- Experience with Siemens FloEFD for thermal simulation of electronic/optical systems.
- Understanding of optical fundamentals such as light propagation, reflection, refraction, and scattering.
- Knowledge of thermal control methods used in optical and electronic assemblies.
- Exposure to additional simulation platforms such as Ansys Mechanical, Fluent, Zemax, TracePro, or COMSOL will be an advantage.
- Strong grasp of how material properties affect optical and thermal behavior.
- Good analytical thinking, troubleshooting ability, and communication skills.
- Prior experience with interior lighting parts used in vehicles.
Preferred Experience
- Background in automotive lighting, AR/VR, or LiDAR.
- Experience correlating simulation models with experimental test data.
- Familiarity with optical measurement methods and related instruments.
