Role overview

1inch is actively looking for strong Web3 and smart contract engineers to support its fast-moving engineering needs. The team values people who take initiative, move quickly, and are deeply motivated by decentralised innovation.

In this role, you will help shape, build, and improve the smart contracts and underlying systems that power 1inch. The work calls for sharp problem-solving, secure execution at scale, and the ability to adapt to rapid changes in the crypto space. You will partner with product leaders and experienced engineers while contributing to open-source quality and maintaining 1inch’s position at the forefront of DeFi.

This is a talent pool role. Candidates who apply will be considered on a priority basis when a matching position opens in the global team. Applications are welcome from early-career developers as well as experienced principal-level architects.

Key responsibilities

• Help design blockchain architecture that is secure, scalable, and able to handle high performance demands.
• Build, connect, test, and support smart contracts and decentralised protocol modules.
• Research technical approaches and assist with proof-of-concept work for new blockchain and DeFi capabilities.
• Contribute to cross-chain interoperability features such as bridging and atomic swap systems.
• Refine smart contract execution to reduce gas usage and improve overall efficiency.
• Work with engineering and security teams to find weaknesses and strengthen protocol resilience.
• Take part in code reviews, testing processes, CI/CD pipelines, and engineering quality practices.
• Collaborate across teams to support product delivery and ongoing improvements.

Candidate profile

• Hands-on experience building and running backend systems in production.
• Strong command of Golang, TypeScript, or another backend/systems language, along with practical knowledge of concurrency and performance.
• Good grasp of system design principles, including service structure, data flow, reliability, and maintainability.
• Working knowledge of blockchain platforms, smart contracts, transaction processing, and on-chain integrations.
• Experience with containerised services and contemporary deployment methods.
• Strong analytical ability and comfort working in fast-paced engineering environments.
• Capability to weigh code quality, scalability, and operational stability together.
• For senior candidates, proven ownership of projects from start to finish and input into architecture decisions.

Preferred experience

• Prior contribution to open-source blockchain or Web3 projects.
• Exposure to zero-knowledge systems or rollup-based architectures.
• Background in distributed systems or low-latency infrastructure.
• Understanding of blockchain infrastructure automation and deployment tools.
• Experience in high-growth startup or scale-up environments.
