Role overview

Code Institute is hiring a mid-level Software Developer to join its engineering function. The position is fully remote and open to candidates based anywhere in Ireland. You will contribute to the continued development of learning platforms and internal systems, with responsibility for delivering solutions end to end.

The environment is highly agile and fast moving. You will be expected to take ownership of your work from system design through build, deployment, and monitoring. The role also calls for strong time management, the ability to handle demanding deadlines, and the confidence to make technical choices that influence product direction.

Key responsibilities

Own the full lifecycle of the features you deliver, including design, development, testing, and deployment of reliable web applications and APIs.
Build, support, and scale container-based infrastructure using Docker, AWS or an equivalent cloud platform, and infrastructure-as-code approaches.
Work efficiently in a fast-moving setting while maintaining a high standard of code quality and meeting tight delivery timelines.
Collaborate closely with the product manager, learning facilitators, and other stakeholders in an iterative Agile workflow.
Use AI-enabled development tools and approaches such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, and Claude to improve speed and output quality.

Required profile

3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience as a Software Developer.
A professional qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar field, with at least a Level 5 Diploma, or equivalent practical experience.
Strong Python expertise, especially with Django; experience with Flask or FastAPI is also considered valuable.
Practical experience with Docker, infrastructure as code, and application deployment on AWS or similar platforms such as GCP or Azure.
Good understanding of Agile delivery practices such as Scrum and Kanban, CI/CD pipelines, and Git-based version control.
Comfort using AI-assisted coding tools and techniques to improve developer productivity.
