Role overview
This opportunity is for senior-level verification engineers who want to join an early-stage semiconductor start-up building security-focused products around CHERI technology and RISC-V cores. The company is just over two years old, is backed by strong funding, and is led by specialists in processor design, formal methods, and semiconductor leadership. With significant expansion planned across the silicon design team, this is a strong time to come on board.
The business is looking to hire a few verification engineers for a rapidly expanding stealth-mode environment. The work centres on validating hardware security functionality, with a particular emphasis on CHERI-based features. The ideal person will be highly self-directed, comfortable working alone when needed, and confident in solving technical problems independently.
Responsibilities
- Work with the design team to interpret and define verification needs for security-related functionality.
- Create and update verification strategies, testbenches, and scenario-based tests using UVM practices.
- Run verification activities and confirm that hardware security features behave as intended.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to make sure implementation aligns with design goals and security expectations.
- Investigate verification issues, debug failures, and drive problems through to resolution quickly.
- Share progress updates and technical findings with the wider team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of hardware verification methods and associated tooling.
- Hands-on experience with UVM for FPGA or ASIC verification.
- Exposure to security technologies and protocols such as CHERI would be beneficial.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to contribute effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Must have UK working rights and be able to work in the UK without restrictions.
- Applicants must already be living and working in the UK.
Location
Cambridge, Sheffield, or remote within the UK.
Additional information
This role is for senior, principal, or staff-level verification engineers. It is a full-time position with remote working available, but only for candidates who are already in the UK and eligible to work there without restriction. No salary, perks, or vacancy count were specified in the source.
About the company
The hiring company is a young start-up focused on security innovation, backed by solid funding and led by a highly experienced team. Its technology roadmap is built around CHERI and RISC-V, with the silicon design function expected to grow significantly.
