Its production sites are located in the Netherlands, the United States, and Singapore.
What this role does
This position focuses on local quality control support. The technician will handle sample preparation, visual and physical checks, sieve testing, powder mixing and dissolution checks, result tracking, external laboratory coordination, and day-to-day laboratory activities. The goal is to make sure raw materials and finished goods are tested, reviewed, and released accurately, promptly, and in line with food safety expectations.
Key responsibilities
- Receive, identify, prepare, and organise raw material and finished goods samples for internal QC work and external testing.
- Maintain sample registration, tracking, and priority follow-up for testing activities.
- Set up samples for physical inspections, sieve checks, dissolution or powder-mixing checks, appearance reviews, and comparison testing when needed.
- Arrange dispatch of samples to external laboratories and monitor outstanding results.
- Track pending laboratory outcomes and follow up until results are received.
- Carry out and record internal checks for colour, appearance, lumps, black particles, sieve condition, solubility, and other visible defects.
- Perform sieve tests, mixing/dissolution checks, and visual inspections to identify concerns such as residue, settling, floating particles, unusual colour, or other abnormalities.
- Document observations clearly in QC trackers and checklists, including photos or reference samples where useful for review and traceability.
- Raise any abnormal result, borderline outcome, missing detail, or urgent release issue quickly to the QC Manager or QC Executive before any release is approved.
- Support review and compilation of test results required for raw material and finished goods release.
- Assist with COA preparation and results entry under guidance from the QC Manager or QC Executive.
- Keep QC records, sample logs, and follow-up trackers accurate and up to date.
- Flag urgent release needs and delays that could affect production schedules or customer commitments.
- Carry out QC duties in line with SOPs, FSSC 22000 requirements, GMP, hygiene standards, and contamination prevention practices.
- Apply basic food safety awareness while handling samples, lab materials, equipment, and documentation.
- Report any sample issue, possible contamination, hygiene concern, equipment problem, or unsafe condition without delay.
- Maintain traceable records to support audit readiness and safe product release decisions.
- Support audit preparation and follow-up actions where QC input is required.
- Keep the laboratory tidy, clean, and well organised.
- Assist with routine checks of QC equipment and general laboratory condition.
- Help with calibration follow-up for equipment where needed.
- Monitor basic laboratory consumables and highlight replenishment requirements.
- Support correct storage and disposal of chemicals, samples, and waste according to safety rules.
- Assist with investigations, retesting, sample comparisons, and complaint-related checks.
Requirements
- NITEC, Higher NITEC, or Diploma in Chemistry, Food Science, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Science, or another related scientific field.
- Between 1 and 3 years of relevant experience in QC, laboratory work, food manufacturing, food ingredients, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, or a similar environment.
- Fresh graduates with the right scientific background, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn may also be considered.
- Preferred exposure to food safety, GMP, hygiene, HACCP, or FSSC 22000 practices.
- Preferred familiarity with sample handling, physical testing, laboratory documentation, and COA support.
- Experience in food ingredient or premix manufacturing is an added advantage.
- Ability to follow SOPs and maintain accurate records consistently.
- Strong attention to detail and careful working habits.
- Good English communication and the ability to coordinate with internal teams.
- Basic Microsoft Office ability, especially Excel and Outlook.
- Comfort with hands-on laboratory work and sample handling.
