About the Role
LAB3 is a major Azure-focused engineering practice across Australasia, with strengths in Cloud & DevOps, Data, IoT & AI, Modern Workplace, Security, and Networks. The company is hiring a Principal Consultant for Azure Cloud & DevOps to join its Professional Services team, with the role open to candidates based anywhere in New Zealand or Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Take the lead on technical client engagements, including guiding Azure assessments, solution design, delivery, and implementation.
- Develop, advise on, and deliver Azure cloud solutions using Terraform, infrastructure as code, and DevOps practices to improve automation, scalability, reliability, security, and performance, including use of LAB3 proprietary tools where appropriate.
- Create proof-of-concept builds to validate solution feasibility and show clients how technology can solve their needs.
- Facilitate workshops and support cloud adoption activities for customers when needed.
- Analyse findings, prepare cost estimates, communicate recommendations, and present outcomes to clients as required.
- Contribute to recruitment by participating in hiring and interviewing for new team members.
- Provide practical, hands-on delivery of technical solutions, including automation and optimisation within project and programme timelines.
- Help shape governance, processes, and documentation across the practice.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in solution design, architecture, consulting, and hands-on delivery in Azure cloud and DevOps environments. A deep working knowledge of Azure, Terraform, cloud system integration, infrastructure as code, scripting, automation, ARM, and preferably AKS is expected. Prior consulting experience with external stakeholders in Microsoft, cloud, or automation services is important. Experience with Azure Local is a strong advantage. The role also calls for someone who is eager to keep learning, strengthen their own capability, and support others through coaching and mentoring.
