Role overview
The Planning Engineer will be responsible for end-to-end project planning and scheduling, tracking progress, and preparing time-related reports. The role also involves building cost estimates and budgets, producing cost forecasts and reports, and monitoring monthly financial progress such as value of work done, invoice payments, and accruals. The position requires flagging any issues that may need management review or corrective action.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain project schedules across different stages of the work.
- Track project progress and prepare regular status reports.
- Manage time-related planning activities and support project controls.
- Prepare cost estimates and budgets for project phases.
- Forecast project costs and compile cost reports.
- Report monthly value of work done, invoice payments, and accruals.
- Identify concerns, risks, or deviations and bring them to management's attention.
Experience and skills
The role calls for strong expertise in planning, scheduling, and cost engineering, including schedule development and cost estimation at different project stages. The candidate should work well in a team, communicate effectively in both spoken and written English, and be comfortable interpreting engineering drawings and work packs. Strong analytical ability and familiarity with internationally accepted standards are also required. Good computer literacy is essential, along with advanced use of Primavera P6, MS Project, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Education
A bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline is required.
