This opportunity is with a prominent biopharmaceutical employer known for pushing innovation in manufacturing science and technology. The role is based in Cork and sits in a highly collaborative setting, partnering with teams in Technical Operations, Process Development, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Regulatory Affairs.

Role summary

As a Materials Scientist, you will act as a technical specialist for biopharmaceutical manufacturing materials, with a strong focus on single-use technologies and raw material quality. The position combines technical review, change control, project leadership, and support for both commercial and clinical operations.

Key work areas

• Drive harmonization, optimization, and continuous improvement efforts across single-use systems such as bags, filters, tubing assemblies, and drug product materials.
• Provide expert technical support on manufacturing materials used in biopharmaceutical production.
• Review, assess, and approve raw materials and any proposed material changes within manufacturing workflows.
• Manage raw material change requests, corrective and preventive actions, and related action items through quality systems including Veeva QMS and TrackWise.
• Support the transition of new processes and technologies from development into cGMP manufacturing.
• Track project progress, communicate updates, and prepare reports and presentations using Microsoft Office tools.

Experience and technical background

The ideal candidate will have a BS in Life Sciences with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, or an MS with at least 2 years of relevant experience in Material Science, Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing, Manufacturing Sciences and Technology, or Process Development. Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical single-use raw materials, manufacturing operations, and process transfer is essential.
