Position Overview
The Inventory Controller supports food service operations by preparing, handling, and modifying products in line with standardized recipes and service tallies. The role involves a range of production tasks such as calculating quantities, opening cases, tempering, decanting, portioning, depositing, weighing, enriching products, and adjusting texture. It also requires the safe use of industrial food production equipment, strong attention to sanitation, and consistent participation in quality assurance activities.
Work Setting
This is an in-person role based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at WRHA Corporate - Nutr & Fd Serv within the Regional Distribution Facility Int Op department. The position is part of the Clinical Support job stream and is unionized under CUPE. The schedule is days and weekends, with daily hours of 7.75 and an annual base of 2015 hours. The anticipated start date is 07/03/2026, and the assignment is indefinite, though it may end with one week’s notice.
Compensation
The posted wage range is $21.322 to $24.646 per hour.
Experience and Education
A background in food service is required, along with a satisfactory employment record. Applicants must have completed at least Grade 12 under Manitoba standards and hold a valid Food Handler’s certificate.
Skills and Qualifications
Candidates should be able to read, write, and speak English well, follow both spoken and written directions, and understand food products and preparation methods. The role also calls for numeric calculation skills, comfort working with industrial kitchen equipment, the ability to adapt to changing tasks, and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team in a time-sensitive environment.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
The position includes bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling items up to 25 lbs, as well as standing for extended periods. Work is performed in a cold environment ranging from 2–10 degrees, with occasional exposure to -18 degrees. The job also involves exposure to chemical cleaning products.
Employment Conditions
A current satisfactory Criminal Records Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, a Child Abuse Registry Check, and an Adult Abuse Registry Check are required before employment. The selected candidate will be responsible for any related service fees. For these checks to be considered current, they must have been completed within six months before the employment start date. Applicants should also note that no employee may hold multiple roles across the WRHA legal entity if those roles together exceed 1.0 EFT.
