Overview

SunnyData is a Databricks-focused technology partner helping customers build scalable architectures, strong data engineering pipelines, modern data consumption layers, and advanced machine learning and AI solutions. The company is hiring a Global Controller to establish and lead the accounting foundation for a rapidly growing services business operating across several entities and countries.

This is the company’s first dedicated Controller position and reports to the VP of Operations and Finance. The role works closely with executive leadership and is meant for someone who can build scalable accounting processes from the ground up rather than simply maintain existing ones. The successful candidate will strengthen the close process, manage consolidation, ensure reliable financial reporting, and create controls that keep the business audit-ready.

What You Will Own

Lead the monthly close process end to end for the US parent and international subsidiaries, including consolidation, elimination entries, and foreign currency remeasurement.
Develop and run practical internal controls for the sales-to-cash and procure-to-pay cycles, keeping them strong enough for compliance while still supporting a fast-moving growth business.
Oversee intercompany billing, funding, and cost allocation processes so they remain aligned with the transfer pricing structure, while coordinating with external specialists across jurisdictions.
Handle external audit coordination, tax compliance, and statutory filing requirements across entities with support from third-party providers in each country.
Support treasury activities including cash flow visibility, foreign exchange exposure tracking, and working capital management across currencies and banking relationships.
Lead long-range planning, annual budgeting, and rolling forecast activities in line with company objectives.
Manage and coach the Accounting Manager in Uruguay and provide direction to outsourced accounting partners supporting statutory, tax, and payroll work across the organization.

Experience and Qualifications

7 or more years of progressive accounting leadership experience, including recent ownership of close and consolidation in a multi-entity environment.
An active US CPA credential is required.
Background in professional services or technology consulting accounting is important.
Strong experience with multi-entity consolidation, intercompany transactions, and reporting in multiple currencies.
Advanced knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Demonstrated success managing external audits and coordinating tax compliance across entities.
Prior experience leading accounting staff and working with outsourced accounting or advisory partners.
A builder-oriented mindset with evidence of improving or creating accounting processes, not merely preserving them.
Ability to explain finance matters clearly in plain language to non-finance stakeholders.

Preferred Background

Experience working with Latin American entities, especially in Uruguay, Argentina, or Mexico, including local payroll, statutory, and tax matters.
Exposure to transfer pricing documentation and intercompany financing structures across borders.
Professional-level Spanish communication skills.
Experience supporting or leading ERP migrations in a scaling business.
Familiarity with purchase price allocation and post-acquisition integration.
Experience building and managing accounting teams across more than one country.

Education

A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
