Electrical Technician

Role overview

As an Electrical Technician, you will inspect machinery and component parts, investigate root causes of faults, and deliver effective maintenance and repair support for terminal and port assets and equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Actively follow port and terminal safety and security procedures and encourage colleagues and visitors to comply as well.
• Inspect tools and check parts to ensure they are in good working condition.
• Assess equipment failures, identify the likely cause, and recommend appropriate corrective actions using the relevant tools.
• Help maintain the highest possible equipment uptime while ensuring repairs are economical, high quality, and durable.
• Escalate urgent maintenance matters and workmanship concerns to the responsible manager.
• Record all completed jobs in the work order system, including time spent, and submit a complete daily activity report.
• Keep the CMMS information current, complete, and accurate.

Qualifications and requirements

Candidates should have at least a secondary school education. Practical training in electrical/electronic fields and hands-on use of equipment, parts, and tools in ports or heavy equipment environments is strongly preferred.

Applicants must be able to communicate in English, both spoken and written/reading. Arabic is preferred, and additional languages will be considered an advantage.

The role requires 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in a similar position. Experience in maintenance and repair within ports, mines, steel plants, or other heavy industry settings is important. Familiarity with maintenance software, MS Office, CMMS platforms, high-tech diagnostic tools, PLCs, and drives is also expected. Strong critical thinking, concentration, and attention to detail are essential.
