Developer Advocate

Role Overview

In this position, you will serve as the connection point between Moniepoint’s APIs and the developer community. The goal of the role is to help developers successfully adopt and build on the company’s products by producing strong technical content, growing an engaged community, and bringing developer feedback into product and engineering decisions. The work calls for solid technical understanding, clear communication, and a strong focus on developer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce, update, and refine technical documentation so it stays accurate, easy to navigate, and simple to use.
• Develop tutorials, technical articles, blog content, product explainers, and best-practice guides that demonstrate how the APIs work.
• Create video-based learning materials such as demos, walkthroughs, webinars, and “how-to” content to simplify complex integration topics.
• Participate actively in developer spaces including forums, social channels such as Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Slack, and Discord, as well as in-person and virtual events.
• Represent the company at hackathons, meetups, and conferences as both a speaker and participant.
• Build meaningful relationships with developers, community contributors, and influential voices in the tech ecosystem.
• Serve as a first line of help for developer questions and technical obstacles, offering practical guidance and support.
• Collect, organize, and prioritize feedback from developers and communicate it to product, engineering, and design teams to inform improvements.
• Contribute to developer relations planning and outreach efforts aimed at increasing awareness and adoption of the developer platform.
• Maintain code samples, SDKs, and demo applications that reduce friction for developers getting started.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of professional experience working as a software engineer.
• Strong knowledge of web technologies, APIs such as REST and GraphQL, and current programming languages like JavaScript/Node.js and Python.
• Ability to explain complex technical ideas in a way that is clear to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• A public body of technical writing work, such as a blog, company articles, or publications on platforms like Medium, Dev.to, or Hashnode.
• Prior experience presenting at meetups, conferences, or webinars, with confidence in live or virtual public speaking.
• Genuine interest in helping developers succeed and an empathetic understanding of their challenges.
• Preferred experience includes working in fintech or with financial APIs such as payments or banking tools.
• Previous exposure to a Developer Relations or Developer Advocate position is advantageous.
• Experience producing and editing video content is a plus.
• Active involvement in open-source work or developer communities is also desirable.
