Data Scientist Intern

Role overview

GoTo Financial is seeking an enthusiastic intern who is excited to tackle real-world deep learning and computer vision challenges across different business areas. This role is based in Singapore and is designed for someone who is comfortable learning quickly, contributing to live systems, and supporting prototype work.

What you'll do

• Handle multimodal data sources such as images, audio, and text.
• Build, train, optimize, and roll out deep learning and computer vision models.
• Create unit tests and supporting documentation, and help assess and benchmark prediction quality and model performance.
• Coordinate day-to-day work with a supervisor or buddy and join daily stand-up meetings.

What you should bring

• Hands-on understanding of deep learning, computer vision, and classical machine learning approaches for practical use cases.
• Working knowledge of frameworks such as PyTorch.
• Strong communication ability to understand business needs and present analytical outcomes clearly.
• Comfort with writing concise, well-structured technical documentation.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

About the team

The GoTo KYC Data Science team develops key machine learning components and models that support the engineering systems behind safe and trusted payments. The team brings together people with diverse backgrounds and skill sets, including mathematics, statistics, machine learning, and deep learning, to solve demanding business problems in GoPay. The group is highly engaged in both the technical side of data science and the business impact of its models, and it regularly shares knowledge through internal forums, discussions, and presentations.
