Data Analyst

Overview

Opencast Software is looking for a Data Analyst to work with clients on converting raw data into practical insights that improve services. In this role, you will be part of a product delivery team and help build performance measurement frameworks that track objectives, user needs, and KPIs while staying within the client’s operational, legal, technical, and ethical boundaries.

You will also set a strong example for colleagues by supporting junior team members, giving helpful feedback, and showing a clear understanding of how measurement should be applied at different stages of product delivery.

Essential experience

• Hands-on experience with data platforms such as Google Analytics, Splunk, Datadog, or comparable tools
• Experience working in a GDS delivery setting inside a government department
• Experience using data visualisation tools like Data Studio to build service performance dashboards
• Experience designing and implementing performance frameworks with KPIs or OKRs for a service or product
• Strong analytical ability to identify suitable data sources and assess whether the results are valid and meaningful
• Experience gathering, combining, cleaning, and interpreting data to produce useful, actionable insight
• Ability to choose the right format or medium to present data clearly and tell a persuasive, relevant story
• Experience forming testable hypotheses and developing insight from the findings
• Valid Security Clearance, or eligibility based on at least 5 years’ residency in the UK

Desirable experience

• Experience presenting data in Power BI, Tableau, QlikView, Power Query, or similar tools
• Working knowledge of scripting or programming languages such as SQL, Python, or R
• Understanding of security and data privacy considerations
• Experience making recommendations for service improvements or changes
