Role overview

The CNC Programmer will report to the relevant Production Managers and will turn engineering designs into accurate, efficient CNC machine programs.

What you will do

• Develop and refine CNC programs for robotic plasma systems, press brake equipment, and bending machinery.
• Read engineering drawings and specifications to produce precise machining instructions.
• Work with engineering and production teams to improve tooling choices, nesting methods, and overall production flow.
• Prepare tooling and material setups for CNC equipment.
• Run programming simulations and check code accuracy to reduce mistakes and improve output.
• Assist machine operators and production staff with technical questions and troubleshooting.
• Review current programming methods and make improvements that strengthen quality and productivity.
• Follow all safety procedures to maintain a secure workplace.
• Bring experience in programming CNC punch machines, ideally on TRUMPF and Voortman equipment.
• Use knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, including tooling selection and material handling, to support production needs.
• Apply lean manufacturing principles where relevant.

Requirements

• Prior experience working as a CNC Programmer.
• Good knowledge of machining methods, tooling, and cutting practices.
• Familiarity with CNC operations such as brake press, laser, and multi-axis machining.
• Confidence in reading engineering drawings and technical specifications.

Preferred qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a similar discipline.
• Level 3 NVQ in Mechanical Engineering.
