Role overview
This position leads banquet operations at a luxury hotel in Doha, coordinating the team to deliver exceptional event service while meeting brand standards and business goals. The role combines hands-on service support with oversight of staffing, budgets, inventory, guest satisfaction, and team development.
Key responsibilities
The manager is expected to supervise banquet delivery, support event service personally when needed, and make sure the operation runs efficiently and profitably.
- Forecast departmental supply needs such as china, glassware, silver, buffet items, and decorative props.
- Ensure all event-related legal and regulatory requirements are understood and followed.
- Oversee banquet activities so that events contribute to strong guest satisfaction and overall success.
- Enforce hotel standards, policies, and operating procedures consistently.
- Maintain required hygiene and sanitation standards.
- Track inventories, safeguard equipment, and manage departmental assets.
- Use banquet beverage records to manage liquor expenses and control perpetual beverage inventory.
- Prepare banquet staff schedules based on forecasted demand and service expectations while supporting profitability.
- Help build long-term relationships with groups to encourage repeat business and growth.
- Set performance goals and assign tasks to strengthen team output.
- Hold monthly team meetings with banquet staff.
- Stay current on food and wine pairings, modern cuisine, and event trends.
- Serve as the main link between banquet operations and the kitchen team.
- Lead shifts and take an active role in event service.
- Model excellent guest relations and professional service behavior.
- Gather guest feedback on quality and service levels and act on concerns.
- Address guest issues and complaints promptly and professionally.
- Enable employees to deliver strong service by clarifying expectations and service parameters.
- Continuously work to improve service performance and guest satisfaction.
- Review comment cards and satisfaction results with the team and use feedback for improvement.
- Communicate and implement emergency procedures and ensure the team is trained in safety practices.
- Observe employee service behavior and provide individual feedback.
- Monitor progress and discuss performance with staff on a regular basis.
- Contribute to corrective action planning and follow-up.
- Review meeting planner survey results and help implement improvements to address service gaps.
- Attend relevant meetings and participate actively.
Candidate profile
This is a management-level event management role requiring prior experience in banquet, food and beverage, or a related hospitality environment.
Education and experience
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- At least 2 years of experience in event management, food and beverage, or a closely related professional area is required.
